What we collect
Astravya is built around birth data, so we are deliberate about exactly what we store and why. We collect only the information needed to run the service:
- Account details — your name, email address and optional phone number, used for sign-in, receipts and support.
- Birth profile data — date, exact time, time accuracy status, birthplace, coordinates and time zone for you and any family profiles you create.
- Preferences — language, chart style, notification choices and theme.
- Service records — readings, reports, AI questions, consultation bookings and payment references generated for your account.
- Usage data — aggregated, non-identifying analytics that help us improve reliability and performance.
Why we collect it
Birth details are required to compute charts, dashas, transits and divisional charts — the calculations cannot run without them. Contact details are used for account access, receipts, the notifications you explicitly opt into, and customer support. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not use your birth data for anything other than the astrology services you request.
How your data is protected
- Row-level security on every personal table means the database itself — not just the app — enforces that only you can read your profiles, readings and reports.
- Reports and documents are served through signed, time-limited links rather than permanent public URLs.
- Payment card details never touch our servers; they are handled entirely by our payment processor.
- Administrative access is role-based, audited, and limited to what support or safety requires.
Your rights
- Export — download your profiles, readings and reports at any time from dashboard settings.
- Correct — edit any birth profile or account detail; recalculations use the corrected values immediately.
- Delete — delete individual birth profiles, or your entire account and all associated records, permanently.
- Withdraw consent — turn off optional notifications and emails at any time without affecting the core service.
Data retention
We keep your data only while your account is active. When you delete your account, personal records are removed from production systems promptly and from backups within a standard rotation period. Payment and invoice records are retained as required by Indian tax and accounting law, in anonymised form where possible.
Children's data
Birth profiles for family members, including children, are created and controlled by the account holder and are private to that account. Astravya accounts themselves are intended for users aged 18 and above.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle personal data, we will notify you by email and in the app before the change takes effect. The effective date at the top of this page always shows the current version.
